The agreement is official. Mubadala, the sovereign fund of the United Arab Emirates, will contribute one billion euros to the new fund "Silver Lake" of the public investment bank Bpifrance, announced Monday the Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire in Abu Dhabi.
The current capital raising will be finalized in early April. It will reach 4 billion euros thanks to the contributions of Bpifrance (1 billion euros) and fifteen French insurers, who will jointly contribute 1 billion (including 200 million by the mutual Covea). There will be added a loan of the same amount. Within ten years, Bpifrance intends to raise up to 10 billion euros for “Lac d'Argent”.
The ambition of this new fund is to invest in fifteen listed French companies, in particular the CAC 40.
