With its registration of positive indicators last year related to the increase in the number of Arab and foreign arrivals to Syria and hotel guests and its profits and the entry of more tourist establishments into work, the Ministry of Tourism is currently moving towards improving the quality of the services of these establishments and raising the level of competitiveness between them and increasing attractions according to those in charge of them.

Director General of the Tourism and Hotel Training Authority at the Ministry of Tourism, Faisal Najati, told SANA that Syria possesses all forms of historical, archaeological, heritage and natural ingredients that must be integrated with the quality of performance, public and tourism services to reach international standards in tourism.

According to Najati, the Ministry has developed an integrated plan for the development of the tourism sector, with special attention given to the areas of training and qualification of human cadres working in it, noting cooperation with tourism chambers, international bodies and organizations, and government institutions to implement training courses on demand and the need of each governorate.

Nagati pointed out that the Training Directorate of the General Authority for Tourism and Hotel Training launched a three-week course for the heads of the food departments in a number of restaurants and tourist establishments in Damascus and is implemented by specialists in the field of tourism to provide them with expertise and skills to develop their work and raise the level and quality of services in their facilities in a way that positively affects the tourism sector in a way Year.

Dean Hanna, a lecturer at the course, explained in a similar statement that the participants of the course got information about ways to deal with customers and provide hospitality in the restaurant and calculate the cost of food in addition to providing them with skills that they must possess to attract visitors and tourists.

Among the trainees, Ahmed Al-Nimr, the manager of a restaurant, pointed out the necessity of informing the owners of restaurants and tourist establishments about everything new in the world of tourism, which is witnessing a gradual recovery in Syria to develop their work in a way that reflects positively on their facilities and attracting guests.

Nizar Rima, director of a restaurant in Damascus countryside, said that the tourism sector supports the national economy, which highlights the need to develop it continuously, while Reem Hassan, the school at the Tourism and Hotel Training Center, drew attention to the need to see developments in its field of work and gain information that in turn would transfer to its students.

The tourism sector in Syria scored positive indicators in 2019 with the return of security and stability to more regions and appeared in the form of an increase in the volume of business achieved in hotels belonging to the Ministry of Tourism to approximately 8,8 billion pounds, an increase of 17 percent from 2018 and the number of Arab and foreign arrivals reaching about 2.4 million Coming, up 31 percent from 2018, as well as putting 2,200 facilities into service at various levels.
