The tension will go up a notch this weekend in the negotiation boxes of the central purchasing offices of distributors. Sunday March 1 at midnight, retailers and manufacturers of agrifood and consumer products must have signed contracts setting prices and business plans.

Distributors are committed to respecting the deadline imposed by law. And for good reason: the DGCCRF imposed, on February 10, fines on Carrefour, Intermarché and Système U for not having respected it last year. So that pressure is exerted on all parties, Bercy ensures that manufacturers and distributors will be checked this year. At the start of the week, Intermarché had already signed 90% of its contracts.
The 2020 vintage of negotiations is of particular importance: these are the first since the entry into force of the Egalim law, which aims to better compensate producers and streamline trade negotiations.
