The Government increases the retirement of scientific researchers by 9.3%

As a result of the flattening of retirement assets, the Government introduced a change in the retirement and pensions of scientific and technological researchers. And from March they will receive an increase of 9.38%.

Until February these retirements were updated every three months by the mobility formula (70% inflation, 30% RIPTE salaries) that was suspended . But for having a special regime, starting this month, instead of the 2.3% increase plus the $ 1,500, the more than 8,000 retirements and pensions of scientific and technological researchers will have a rise of 9.38%. This percentage corresponds to the evolution of the formal wages index (RIPTE) for the period July-September 2019.

This was determined by Resolution 139/2020 of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security published Tuesday in the Official Gazette as a result of the flattening of retirement assets.

It is that if the increase of the presidential decree were applied, the retired and scientific pensioners would have received 2.3% plus $ 1,500. And since researchers' pensions and pensions are higher than those of the general scheme, 2.3% plus $ 1,500 would have represented an average increase of less than 4%.

This sector retires with 85% mobile of the total remuneration subject to the payment of contributions at the time of the definitive cessation in the service. Consequently, 2.3% plus $ 1,500 would have resulted in a much lower increase than the salary mobility of 85% mobile. It would also have produced a difference between who is retiring from now on because it would start with an initial credit of 85% mobile, while the retirement amount of the already retired would be lower than that percentage.

To resolve this conflict, the Ministerial Resolution grants the retirees and pensioners of the sector the RIPTE salary variation of the third quarter.
