ADP: privatization postponed indefinitely

The petition for a referendum on the subject failed. But the market conditions are too difficult.


Privatizing Charles-de-Gaulle, this will not be for immediately. The coronavirus crisis and the collapse of the stock market got the better of the privatization project of Groupe ADP (ex-Aéroports de Paris), the company which notably manages the airports of Roissy and Orly. Current market conditions are "not at all favorable" for such an operation, recognized Sibeth Ndiaye, government spokesperson, after the Council of Ministers on Wednesday March 11.

The privatization process - which consists in selling all or part of the 50.6% of the capital that the State still holds, since the company is already listed on the stock exchange, could, in theory, have resumed on Friday March 13. Opponents of the project wanted to launch a popular initiative referendum (RIP) on the subject. For this, they would have had to collect 4.7 million signatures supporting their project.
