If the strike of December and January had concerned almost exclusively the SNCF and the RATP, the epidemic of Covid-19 hit with full force all the operators of public transport. Transdev, which operates buses, trams and trains in 18 countries (Germany, United States, Netherlands ...) including France, is at the forefront.
Its first priority: reduce, in connection with agglomerations, the circulation of collective means of transport as the number of visitors drops. "The offer is between 30 and 50% of normal with attendance which has declined in France by more than 90%," says the group's CEO, Thierry Mallet.
At the same time, as in Paris, resources are allocated to transport healthcare workers to hospitals, above all. For example, in Le Havre, the shuttles previously reserved for the disabled, are now intended for doctors and other nurses.
