The Central Bank of Syria asked all financial institutions in the banking sector to play its social role and include loans for people with low incomes in postponing the payment of installments for a period of three months for one time.

The Central Bank stated in a decision that SANA obtained a copy of it that it comes to clarify the queries raised about some of the articles of the Monetary and Credit Council’s decision regarding postponing the payment of all installments due to clients affected by the emergence of the new Corona virus, stating that “the outstanding installments include all unpaid installments of non-performing loans in Its first and second stages granted to clients. ”

The decision obliges all banking financial institutions to “postpone all loan installments covered by the decision of the Monetary and Credit Board for a period of three months from the date of their original maturity, provided that the slides and loans benefiting from the delay are determined and the date of its validity and to provide the government commission with the central banks with them within a maximum period of 13-4-2020 with A statement of the percentage of each segment of the total granted facilities.

Based on the decision, it is necessary to inform the clients affected by the emergence of the new Corona virus and those concerned with deducting the loan installments that benefit from the allowance to postpone the installments, either through announcing the loans and segments benefiting from the deferral on the social media and the institutions website or any other means it deems appropriate.

The Central also expressed appreciation for the initiatives of public and private banking institutions that announced the postponement of loan repayments to different segments of customers without imposing any new obligations or benefits on clients.
