This postponement has so far concerned trips with a departure scheduled before May 15.

For travelers, we will have to arm ourselves with a little more patience, at least until the Pentecost weekend. On Wednesday, French tour operators announced the postponement of all departures scheduled until May 29, against mid-May so far, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This decision is motivated by "the health situation" and "the inevitable and exceptional circumstances which impose travel restrictions", said in a statement the Seto (union of tour operators).

"This provision can be adapted according to the constraints of shipping and river companies, but also according to the possibilities of reopening of destinations following the announcement of the end of confinement in France", specifies this text. "For the trips concerned", the tour operators will keep their customers informed "as soon as possible", and are at their disposal and that of the travel agencies to answer their questions, he continues.

A possible postponement for 18 months

May 11 should mark the beginning of a partial deconfinement in France, announced on Monday President Emmanuel Macron, with the gradual reopening of schools, colleges and high schools, while universities, bars, restaurants or cinemas will remain closed, all like borders with non-European countries. The elderly and frail have been asked to remain confined and festivals will not be allowed until at least mid-July.

Regarding organized trips, all-inclusive stays and independent services such as accommodation or car rental that have been canceled from March 1 and until September 15, due to Covid-19, they can be carried over for 18 months by means of a credit note.

The professional can offer an equivalent service or a higher amount, or several stays of a lower amount. At the end of the 18 months, if the customer has not used his credit, he can obtain a refund. This credit does not apply to dry transportation services.
