Sick leave for childcare remains possible until May 1. Then, the employees concerned will automatically go unemployed pa

Every day, Le Parisien is mobilized to answer your questions around the coronavirus. Today, several questions from Caroline following the announcement of the extension of the confinement until May 11: “How long is the arrest for childcare? Is it renewable until classes resume? Is it valid during school holidays? "

The government, via Health Insurance, always indicates the same guidelines: as has been the case since the start of the crisis, a parent of a child under the age of 16 or a parent of a child with a disability without age limit can benefit from a work stoppage.

Transition to partial unemployment on May 1

This can last from one to 21 days and must be validated by your employer, who makes the request. All without waiting period. In a couple, only one of the two parents can get it, but this stop can be shared. "It may be renewable according to the same terms if the period of closure of establishments were to be extended", can be read on the Health Insurance website. Information confirmed by the social protection organization.

But, since Friday April 17, the government has announced an end date for these special stops: May 1. Until that date, the parents concerned can have their work stoppage extended if no other solution is possible. More than 2 million people have requested this arrest since the start of the crisis.

From April 16 to 30, it will always be the daily allowances, then from May 1, the people concerned will switch to a partial unemployment scheme which allows the employee to be compensated up to 70% of gross salary and 84% net salary (100% for the minimum wage). And this, in theory, until May 11, when must open a first period of deconfinement and the reopening of schools.

This change of regime "does not concern the self-employed, civil servants and contractual agents of public law on sick leave".
