The Covid-19 must be recognized as an occupational disease for all the workers concerned, and not only for the nursing staff, as announced this week by the Minister of Health, the CFDT and Force Ouvrière insisted on Thursday in separate press releases.

The Minister of Health Olivier Véran announced Tuesday that the pathology due to the new coronavirus would be recognized " automatically " as an occupational disease for caregivers, but not for other categories of workers, who will have to undergo conventional procedures

" The planned system seems (...) to forget the other personnel of the social and medico-social health establishments and all the workers of the other activity sectors who are exposed ", underlines the CFDT. The union refuses " a silo approach, which distinguishes workers according to their membership of trades or a sector of activity ". He claims " that the risks of occupational exposure to Covid-19 and their consequences on health be taken into account in a consistent manner ".

" What about the laboratory assistant, the stretcher bearer, the funeral service worker?" They are in good contact with the sick or exposed to risk. What about commercial employees, police, security personnel or cleaning personnel? They are in daily contact with the population. All are potentially concerned ”, notes the CFDT. The union center proposes that “ whatever their sector of activity and trade, the worker who will have been exposed and contaminated and who will suffer a lasting damage to their health due to the Covid-19, today or tomorrow, should benefit from 'recognition of this exhibition without having to prove it '.

Force Ouvrière goes in the same direction, defending this enlargement as " a measure of social justice ". " The efforts made cannot be rewarded with simple thanks, " adds FO, who cites in particular the distribution and logistics sectors, garbage collectors, social workers, postal workers or security personnel. Turning to conventional procedures, as proposed by Olivier Véran, " remains, in fact, almost impossible as this path is an obstacle course for all workers, " said FO.

Recognition of an occupational disease allows 100% coverage of medical expenses but also allows you to receive compensation in the event of temporary or permanent incapacity. In the event of death, the beneficiaries may also receive an annuity.
