Frankfurt-Sana

German Minister of Economy Peter Altmire expected that his country's economy will shrink by 3.6 percent this year due to the repercussions of the 19th Covid epidemic, the largest drop in Europe's largest economy since the statistics began in 1970.

"The effects of the epidemic will push our economy into recession after ten years of growth, but the government expects the economy to recover next year," Altemire was quoted by AFP as saying.

The Robert Koch Institute of Infectious Diseases today recorded 1,304 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections to 157,641, while the number of deaths increased by 202 deaths compared to the previous day, to a total of 6,115 deaths.
