Every day, Le Parisien mobilizes to answer your questions around the coronavirus. Today we are interested in the questioning of "ladivj", who asks us if he needs a certificate from his employer to go to work by bicycle.
The answer is no. As announced on Thursday May 7 by the Minister of Ecological Transition Elisabeth Borne, an employer certificate will be mandatory from May 11 only:
- Rush hour
- In public transports
- In Île-de-France
In other words, if you are going to work by bike, whether you are in a department classified red or classified green, no certificate from your employer will be necessary. However, you will need to provide proof of address in order to prove that you live less than 100 km from where you will be during a possible control by the police.

The only other case for which a true certificate would be necessary to go to work, but this concerns journeys by car or train rather than by bicycle, is valid for journeys of a distance greater than 100 km as the crow flies. In this case, you must bring a certificate proving a professional "compelling reason" (it can also be family).
