Renault, which has just obtained a State guaranteed loan (PGE) of 5 billion euros and is preparing a savings plan, is not the only player in the automobile sector in difficulty, far from it. The entire industry, and its 400,000 industrial jobs in France, is devastated. The future of many SMEs is threatened. In a few days, the government should therefore present its stimulus plan to support this industry.

While stalling is underway and there is much talk of bonuses for the purchase of “clean” vehicles (hybrid and electric), several voices have been heard. The employers (UIMM) and the main trade union organizations in the metallurgy sector - in which the automobile represents the majority of jobs - are therefore asking for an "industrial job preservation device" to be able to adjust working hours to the load companies, while maintaining employee compensation.
