Three days after demonstrations bringing together several thousand people, it seems that employment is now saved within the Renault factory in Maubeuge (North), shutdown since Friday morning.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance indicates that Bruno Le Maire will validate this Tuesday the state guaranteed loan of 5 billion euros to help Renault. Struck by the coronavirus crisis, the manufacturer had announced its decision to cut 15,000 jobs worldwide, including 4,600 in France.
The direction envisaged in particular the transfer of production of the electric utilities Kangoo to Douai - approximately 2900 employees -, 70 km from there, which would have inherited a new platform.
"Industrial project for the future"
The Minister “asked that a social and technical dialogue immediately begin, in order to develop an industrial project for the future […] which will have to guarantee, in the long term, beyond 2023, employment and the level of industrial activity on the Maubeuge site (North) and its territory, ”adds Bercy.

Xavier Bertrand, the president of Hauts-de-France, had already announced at the end of a meeting in the presence in particular of Bruno Le Maire, the management of Renault and the unions, maintaining activity and employment "Beyond 2023".
"The minister understood everyone's determination and clearly heard the message," he welcomed then, but said he was vigilant about the terms of engagement of the automaker.

“We couldn't stay with a sword of Damocles for a year. But that is not enough for us yet: we must now go into the details of how we maintain employment beyond 2023. We need to have maximum visibility, at least for the years 2020-2030 ”, had -he adds.
