In Fécamp, EDF relies on marine wind power

The investment is 2 billion euros. The 71 wind turbines will be built in Le Havre.


They will rise more than 100 meters above the sea, their blades of more than 75 meters long turning gently above the waves of the Alabaster coast. 71 wind turbines, located on a surface of 60 km to 13 km from the coasts of Fécamp, in Seine-Maritime. A consortium bringing together the French EDF Renouvelables (35%), the Canadian Enbridge (35%) and the German Wpd (30%) has just announced the official launch of the construction of this offshore field. "With a power of nearly 500 megawatts, it will ensure the electricity consumption of more than 770,000 people," says Bruno Bensasson, CEO of EDF Renouvelables.

The construction phase will last two and a half years, for commissioning in 2023.
