For the first time, Airbnb was recognized jointly responsible in a case of rents illegally received by subletting, according to a decision rendered on June 6 by the Paris court that Le Figaro exclusively discloses. Airbnb was therefore ordered to reimburse a landlord more than 58,000 euros, including approximately 52,000 in rent received by a tenant who had illegally rented his accommodation for 534 days, without having notified the lessor in advance. "As soon as the host carries out an illegal activity through him, taking into account his right to inspect the content of the advertisements, Airbnb commits a fault by abstaining from any verification", affirms the Paris court.
