Data from the European Union's statistics office, Eurostat, showed that the euro zone's trade surplus fell sharply year-on-year in April due to the restrictive measures that accompany the Corona pandemic.
Reuters quoted the office as saying .. The unadjusted foreign trade surplus of the nineteenth European currency area countries fell to 2.9 billion euros in April from 15.5 billion a year ago, with exports falling 29.3 percent and imports 24.8 percent year on year.
The euro zone's trade surplus declined on an adjusted basis in light of the seasonal factors further to 1.2 billion euros.
Germany's exports, the continent's largest exporter, fell by nearly a quarter compared to the previous month, while France and Italy's exports fell by more than a third.
