It is done. Nearly nine years after the agreement between the Socialist Party and the Greens sealed in November 2011 by Martine Aubry and Cécile Duflot, the closure of the Fessenheim nuclear power plant, which was integrated into the program of candidate François Hollande at the time, has become a reality this June 30.
It's a strange moment. With the passage of time, no one seems to remember the reasons why this closure was at one time deemed necessary. The executive is very unconvincing. In its press kit, the Ministry for the Ecological Transition puts forward as the first argument the fact that Fessenheim is " the oldest plant " in France - which is not in itself a problem since the Nuclear Safety Authority consider it good for the service - and for the second reason the fact that it was a campaign commitment from Emmanuel Macron.
