Due to its privileged geographic location in north-west Europe and its flagship infrastructure, the Calais area has many advantages for companies looking
to locate. “At the crossroads between the United Kingdom and Belgium, the Calaisis benefits from optimal accessibility. Rail and motorway connections allow to reach 3
European capitals , London, Brussels and Paris, but also the east and west of France. In addition, the territory concentrates exceptional passenger and freight flows thanks to the Channel Tunnel and
the port of Calais ”announces Philippe Devilliers, Director of Calais Promotion. Economically dynamic, the Calaisis has several historic companies such as the giant
Alcatel electronics or the automotive supplier Schaeffler.

In addition to its network of transport infrastructures, the territory has available land. A significant advantage as nearly 7,000 trucks cross Calais every month.
“In fact, the agglomeration is developing a vast logistics center of 222 hectares of which 72 hectares are available. On the tertiary side, we have locations near the highway and the
TGV station . Other actions are directed towards startups and datacenters as evidenced by the inauguration of the house of digital and innovation ”. In recent years, Calais has also been developing an ambitious program to strengthen the tourist attractiveness of the territory. “When an industrialist invests, he is very attentive to the environment that surrounds him. This is why the city welcomed a new lasting attraction at the end of 2019: the dragon, a 72-tonne beast thought of as a structuring element of the territory, ”specifies Philippe Devilliers.

Created in 2009 and chaired by Natacha Bouchart, Mayor of Calais, Calais Promotion is the Calaisis economic development agency. His goal ? Reinforce the economic and tourist dynamics of the territory by developing its assets. "In collaboration with our local partners, we promote the territory in order to attract investors, support local businesses in their development and structure the economic strategy of the territory in the medium and long terms" explains Philippe Devilliers. In 2019, Calais Promotion supported 222 implantation and
development projects .

Calais Promotion, already prepared for Brexit for over a year, remains attentive to negotiations on future economic agreements. In addition, some British companies have already set up a branch in the territory in order to anticipate customs fees or maintain the CE mark on their products.
