La Poste announced on Thursday that mail rates will increase by 4.7% on average on January 1, 2021, with the price of regular stamps increasing significantly more to all cost more than one euro.

This development, validated by the Electronic Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority (Arcep), " makes it possible to ensure the sustainability of the universal service " in a " context of an acceleration in the drop in volumes of mail " transported, justified La Poste in a press release.
The majority of tariffs increasing
The price of the green stamp - for a cover distributed within 48 hours in metropolitan France for individuals will drop from 97 cents to 1.08 euros (+ 11.3%) while that of the red stamp - for a priority letter theoretically distributed the next day will rise from 1.16 to 1.28 euros (+ 10.3%). La Poste speaks of " tariff advantage " to refer to the price difference between the green and red stamps, which will drop from 19 to 20 cents. And those who buy them online will be entitled to a 3% discount.
As for the “ Ecopli ” - the cheapest formula for a shipment in four days on average, with a gray stamp, it will increase by 95 cents to 1.06 euro (+ 11.6%). The “ tracking ” sticker, which provides information on the routing and distribution of items, priority or not, will be reduced from 45 to 48 cents.
The prices of classic postal parcels sent to France (Colissimo) will increase at the same time by 1.6% on January 1, but the package of less than 250 grams will remain at the same price.
For businesses, industrial management mail rates will increase by 3.9% and those of direct marketing by 0.7%, La Poste said. French households are expected to spend on average around 39 euros on postal products this year. As the expected drop in mail volumes is greater than the increase in prices, the bill should be limited to 37 euros in 2021, according to the public group.
