Eight migrants who were hiding in a truck were discovered on a motorway rest area near Aix-en-Provence on Saturday August 8, according to the gendarmes.

It was the driver of the truck, a Russian, who was traveling towards Spain, who warned the authorities, alerted by noises from the trailer, according to the gendarmes, confirming information from Var-Matin.
The driver, who was traveling between Italy and Spain, had stopped to sleep at the Rousset rest area (Bouches-du-Rhône).
Inside the truck, the gendarmes discovered eight men, half of whom are minors. Five are Bangladeshi and three Pakistanis. In good health according to the gendarmes, they said they got on the truck during a break in Ventimiglia (Italy), and were released. They will have to report to the prefecture in Marseille.
At the beginning of July, help came to the aid of 11 illegal migrants discovered by the police in an Italian truck in La Seyne-sur-mer (Var) and suffering from discomfort due to the transport conditions.
According to the prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes, since May, the number of people coming from Italy and turned away every day is "gradually increasing".
