The head of the Chamber of Fuel Entrepreneurs, Raúl Castellano, assured that in "the next few days" the increase in gasoline will take place and calculated that it accumulates a delay of 13 percent since the coronavirus pandemic began.

"We are with expectations. Everything suggests that the price is going to rise because it has been delayed after eight months of freezing  and also taking into account the statements of different government officials, such as the chief of staff (Santiago Cafiero) and the minister of Economy (Martín Guzmán), who have not denied it, "said Castellano, in dialogue with El Uncover Radio .

Precisely, last week Cafiero had indicated that work is being done on fuel costs, while Guzmán stressed that it is necessary to "recover the strategic role of YPF, which is in a dramatic situation."

Also the Minister of Productive Development, Matías Kulfas, explained that "it is an issue that is being analyzed." And he added: "Naphtha is important. It is at the same value as in December 2019. It has not yet been made (the decision to increase) but it is a possibility."

Regarding the value of the adjustment, Castellano considered: "I do not know what calculation the Government will make, but if we take the refining margin, the cost to produce fuels, since February we see a delay of 8% in gas and 13% in naphtha ."

For the businessman, the increase is imminent, although it does not have a definite date: "No one has given a date, but surely not many days will pass, some speak that it could be this week ."

The head of the Chamber hopes to begin to recover the numbers of the sector, one of the many that was beaten by the pandemic and the economic crisis. "The sales floor was in April, then it has recovered. Now we are 35 or 40% down. On average we can be 65% of the usual sale, which for service stations is catastrophic."
