SIEMENS

August 12th was a day to the taste of Joe Kaeser, 63, and Christian Bruch, 50: The two top Siemens managers spent it separately.

Kaeser, the outgoing CEO, flew to Beirut with Federal Foreign Minister Heiko Maas to find out how Siemens could help rebuild the Lebanese capital after the explosion.

Bruch, the new head of the energy division, went to southern Styria.

Siemens operates the largest site for the construction of large power plant transformers in the small community of Weiz.

Bruch likes trips like this to the provinces: "I'm a big fan of factory tours, after all, that's where money is earned - or sunk."

Kaeser, the statesman.

Bruch, the painter.

After 40 years of Siemens career, one of them is floating above things.

The other digs himself deep into the group as a newcomer.

Bruch was only brought in at the beginning of May as head of the energy business from the Linde gas company, after his predecessor Michael Sen unexpectedly dropped out.

Since then, Bruch has already visited half a dozen locations, including some that Kaeser has never seen from the inside.
