A historic moment: the four-master "Peking" is returning to its homeland.
The 115-meter-long ship is pulled up the Elbe towards Hamburg by two tugs - accompanied by many onlookers on the bank.
Christian Schlüter
"We used the time before school. We got up at a quarter past five, were here at six o'clock, and then we sat for the rest of the time, had breakfast and enjoyed the historic moment."
Hans-Herman Schlüter
"We are thrilled. When I saw them coming from Wewelsfleth, these tall masts, fantastic."
The "Peking" was launched in Hamburg in 1911, later sailed 34 times around Cape Horn and was a museum ship in New York for over 40 years.
It was extensively restored at the Peters shipyard in Wewelsfleth for three years for several million euros.
In Hamburg, the tall ship will in future be the flagship of the planned German Harbor Museum.
Estimated arrival in the old homeland: Around 7 p.m.
