The Public Authority for Fish Resources confirmed that it produced 4,561 tons of fish last year and that the body’s experiments produced 122 tons.
The Director General of the Authority, Dr. Abdul Latif Ali, stated in a statement to SANA that the fish sold in the markets are healthy and of high quality, as the authority monitors and monitors the health safety and quality of marine and fresh fish on a daily basis through special technical committees and their control points that are spread along the Syrian coast and landing sites for catches. In the Syrian fishing ports and control points located on all fresh water bodies, in addition to the market monitoring committees that exist daily in all central fish sales markets in the governorates that control violators.
Ali explained that the fish produced in the authority as surplus experiments are incubated at the Age Research Center and followed up and monitored healthily from the stage of the larva to marketing by specialists and they are fed on concentrated feed and studied feed mixes, indicating that these fish are raised in clean water free of contaminants and there is a great demand of Citizens want to buy it because they have great confidence in its safety, so part of the production is sold at promotional prices in 4 direct sales outlets of the authority in Lattakia and Baniyas, and part in the Syrian Trade halls as a kind of positive intervention.
Ali stated that the authority has adopted the project of small family fish farms to achieve sustainable development for the rural population, explaining that before starting the project in any governorate, the central technical committee of the authority, in cooperation with technicians from the Directorate of Agriculture, conducts an initial sensory inspection of the watering basins of the citizens and makes sure that they comply with the specifications and provide improved fingerlings. Free of charge for them and cultivate them in those ponds and continue to supervise them until they reach the marketing weight and provide the necessary instructions to farmers.
