Ankara-SANA, Turkish economist Esfandar Korkmaz has warned that the Turkish lira continues to collapse significantly

Ankara-Sana

Turkish economic expert Esfandar Korkmaz warned that the Turkish lira continues to collapse in a large and rapid way against the dollar, which negatively affects the Turkish economy.

The Turkish Zaman newspaper quoted Korkmaz as saying that "the real value of the dollar against the Turkish lira is greater than the current value by about 40 percent," noting that Turkey is among the countries with the highest financial risk, which makes it difficult for it to obtain external financing.

Korkmaz added, “We are living in a state of drought in importing medicines. As for other import products, even if we do that, the citizen will not be able to buy them due to the high prices, and the prices of imported materials that enter into local production processes have witnessed a significant increase, which has negatively affected production rates due to the association of local industry. By importing raw materials from abroad. ”

Korkmaz explained that "government banks are trying to sell dollars at reduced prices in order to control the exchange rate, which led to a significant increase in the deficit in banks, warning that citizens will get poorer with the imposition of more taxes to fill this deficit."

The Turkish lira fell to a record level below 7.49 against the dollar today, under the influence of the successive crises afflicting the regime of Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Turkish currency continues to deteriorate due to the deteriorating political and security conditions in the country due to the policies and repressive measures of the Erdogan regime, which led to a decline in tourism and investments and a decrease in the country's foreign exchange earnings.
