The alleged murderer, a 31-year-old Togolese national, himself alerted the police after setting fire to the apartment, located in a residential complex in the municipality of Encamp.
He surrendered and admitted his guilt.
The victim's wife and 12-year-old daughter were in the apartment at the time of the murder, but were able to escape the fire.
Investigators were seeking to establish on Monday what could have opposed the ex-employee and his former boss, 56, who ran an IT services company.
