Dollar purchase operations have been suspended for a week and
will continue until October.
This was admitted by Claudio Cesario, president of the Association of Banks of Argentina (ABA), which brings together the foreign entities that operate in the country.
Cesario participated in an interview with Luis Novaresio on radio La Red. There, the executive indicated that once the difficulties that hinder the purchase of foreign currency have been overcome, "it could be bought again in October."
Due to the new restrictions established by the Central Bank, banks have to check that the people who want to buy dollars are enabled to do so.
But that data crossing is cumbersome and they have not yet found a way to do it in an agile way.
One of the main knots is with ANSES.
Due to the new regulations, those who receive social plans, such as the
Emergency Family Income (IFE),
will no longer be able to buy dollars
.
Therefore, each bank must check whether or not the person who wants to buy has a plan of this type.
ANSES has a link that allows you to do this check manually, case by case.
The banks say that this way the system is unfeasible and they ask for an expeditious solution.
"What we need is a 'tube' that allows us to do the consultations in a massive way. Otherwise,
the rest are patches,
" said Cesario.
The executive warned that if a solution is not reached, banks will most likely have
to start shifts
to buy dollars.
Thus, the interested party should check with ANSES to see if he is authorized to buy, and if he is, connect with the bank that would enable the operation in 48 hours.
