The Arab Center for Studies of Arid Zones and Arid Lands, ACSAD, announced that it has supplied Lebanon with a quantity of olive trees, fruit plants, breeding wheat, and improved types of sheep and goats in a way that contributes to achieving agricultural development in Lebanon.
According to a statement of the Center, SANA received a copy of it that the aforementioned quantities and types were agreed upon during a meeting of the Director of the ACSAD Center, Dr. Nasruddin Al-Obaid, with the Lebanese Minister of Agriculture Abbas Mortada today in Beirut, during which they discussed mechanisms for strengthening and developing cooperation between the two sides, where Dr. Al-Obaid confirmed the readiness to develop the technical and scientific capabilities of the Center In the service of achieving agricultural development in Lebanon.
It was also agreed to provide the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture with a quantity of improved ACSAD seed from fresh wheat to multiply in Lebanese research stations in preparation for distribution to farmers there, as well as artificial insemination straws and requirements for their use, and to conduct training courses for Lebanese technical personnel in the field of genetic improvement of local sheep and goats.
The two sides agreed to conduct ACSAD for the technical studies needed to construct water dams in specific areas in Lebanon and to spread rainwater harvesting.
