Washington (correspondent) .- The International Monetary Fund announced this Thursday that there will be a technical mission

at the beginning of October

that will assess the

state of the Argentine economy

and seek to

"understand the economic agenda of the authorities,

" although it said that it is not yet known if the experts will visit the country or do so virtually.

At a press conference in Washington, the Fund's Communications Chief Gerry Rice said that “the IMF team is working and plans to have a staff visit to Argentina beginning in early October.

I am talking about a visit by the staff, but

I cannot say if it will be a physical or virtual visit, it

will depend on the state of the pandemic at the time ”.

Rice explained that "the objective of the mission would be to

know more and first-hand about the economic plans

of the authorities and this would be part of the program supported by the Fund."

“The IMF will be listening, trying to better understand the economic agenda of the authorities.

Once again it is a milestone to have this visit from the staff, it is part of the beginning of the process ”.

Argentina has already launched the process of restructuring the debt of 57,000 million dollars (44,000 million disbursed) that it has with the IMF and is in a "constructive and fluid" dialogue with the authorities.

In normal times, the mission should examine the economic figures in Buenos Aires, listen to officials but also to opposition leaders, trade unionists, businessmen and members of civil society.
