For a long time, Unibail's history has been one of the tremendous success of a French real estate giant.
A giant which had, at the end of 2019, a real estate portfolio of more than 65 billion euros, number two in the world for shopping centers and present in Europe but also in the United States.
A story closely linked to a man, Léon Bressler, who became the head of the company in 1992.

At that time, Unibail was not a real estate company, but first and foremost a leasing company with a few real estate assets.
It was created in 1968, under the Sicomi regime (for real estate companies for commerce and industry), which operate in leasing while benefiting from an advantageous tax regime.
Unibail continued its activity until the beginning of the 90s, when the end of this tax regime combined with the real estate crisis sent Unibail to the brink of bankruptcy.
It is Léon Bressler who saves the company.
