In the legal dispute against the Bayer subsidiary Monsanto, the highest French court of appeal has now finally found a farmer right.

The organic farmer Paul François attributed serious health problems to the weed killer Lasso, which he used to treat his fields with.

Lasso is manufactured by Monsanto and is now banned in France, in Germany the product was never approved.

The farmer said he had suffered severe neurological damage since inhaling fumes from the herbicide in 2004.

The judges rejected an appeal by Bayer against a lower court ruling and ruled that Monsanto should have warned of the dangers of its weed killer Lasso.

In a further procedure, the amount of the compensation is now being decided.

François wants to claim more than one million euros in damages from the company.

French courts ruled François in the first instance in 2012 and on appeal in 2015, but Monsanto appealed.

In April 2019, an appeals court in Lyon tried the case again and again found the farmer right.

Bayer appealed the decision.

Bayer is currently facing thousands of plaintiffs in the United States because of its daughter Monsanto's controversial weed killer Roundup.

The wave of lawsuits brought by Bayer with the $ 63 billion takeover of the glyphosate developer is weighing heavily on the company.

However, the wave of complaints has subsided somewhat recently.
