Based on this observation, the government designated 59 projects on Monday in order to increase the demand response capacity of the French electricity network.

"for an operator to ask consumers, more industrialists, to reduce their consumption for a given time against remuneration"
, explains a spokesperson for RTE, the operator of the electricity network in France.
The formula has an ecological interest.
All the more so as the projects chosen this year do not include any “gray” capacity, where load shedding is done at the cost of launching a generator, often fueled by fuel.
But the main interest is indeed to make it possible to balance the electrical network, and thus to avoid any risk of cuts or black-out.
