By decree, the national government extended until December 31 the

Emergency Assistance

Program for

Work and Production (ATP)

, which for five months has as its axis the payment of part of the salaries in the companies that request it.

The regulations

provide for "adjustments"

in the measures.

The announcement was made amidst the economic difficulties that persist in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"Extend the validity of the Emergency Assistance Program for Work and Production (ATP) established by Decree No. 332/20 and its amendments,

until December 31

, 2020", establishes Decree 823/2020, published this Tuesday in the Official Gazette.

The original regulation foresaw that the series of measures included in the ATP would take effect between March 20 and April 30.

In July it was extended until September 30 and it was warned that the benefits could be carried until December, but with restrictions.

At that time, it was expected that, by the end of 2020, only "activities critically affected by social distancing measures could be included in the program, even when preventive and mandatory social isolation has ended."

The new decree warns that, although "an economic recovery is observed", the supposed rebound

shows "sectorial and territorial heterogeneity."

Consequently, the regulations affirm, "it is pertinent to extend the temporality of the assistance",

with adjustments

to the "current prevailing needs and to the changes that have occurred and are occurring in the economic reality."

The ATP program was created on April 1st.

It establishes

five possible benefits

: postponement or reduction of up to 95% of employer contributions to the Argentine Integrated Pension System;

the complementary salary for workers in a private sector dependency relationship;

zero rate credits for small taxpayers and the self-employed;

a rise in unemployment benefits;

and loans at a subsidized rate for companies.
