A new hearing will be held on November 25 at the Orléans Commercial Court to take stock of the financial situation of the Duralex glassworks, which employs 248 employees, placed in receivership at the end of September, we learned on Wednesday.

A progress report was held this Wednesday behind closed doors at the commercial court.

The date for submitting bids has been set for December 31.

Duralex, famous for its tempered glass tableware sold around the world, was placed in receivership on September 23 with a six-month observation period.

The company, located in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin (Loiret) in the Orleans metropolitan area, had to significantly reduce its production following an incident related to the replacement of its furnace in 2017.

To this deteriorated situation were added the vagaries of the health crisis, with a loss of around 60% of turnover due to the cessation of exports, which represent 80% of the company's activity, according to its CEO Antoine Ioannidès.

In 2008, the company, then in the hands of a Turkish businessman, was also forced into liquidation, before being taken over at the bar of the commercial court by the current management team.
