The synthetic indicator measuring household morale fell by one point to 94 points and remains below its long-term average (100), while fears about the trend in unemployment are worsening again.

Most of the criteria compiled by INSEE to assess household morale deteriorated in October, when the second wave of the epidemic led the government to impose a curfew on part of the territory.

Households are thus less optimistic about their future financial situation, which loses 3 points and falls below its long-term average.

They are also more worried about the evolution of the economic context in France.

They are more likely to anticipate a deterioration in the standard of living in France in the next twelve months and their fears about the evolution of unemployment are increasing.

The corresponding balance of opinion thus increased by 2 points and remained above its long-term average.

On the other hand, the proportion of households believing that it is opportune to make major purchases remained stable in October, but remained below the long-term trend.

Finally, the proportion of households who consider it necessary to save is down slightly (-2 points), even if it remains very high.

At the same time, they are a little less confident (-1 point) about their savings capacity in the future.
