Plastic Omnium is muscle in hydrogen.
The French automotive supplier, well placed in the production of hydrogen tanks, has just created a joint venture with ElringKlinger, a German automotive supplier, to extend its area of expertise to the entire industry.
60% owned by ElringKlinger and 40% by Plastic Omnium, the joint venture, dubbed EKPO fuel cell techology, will develop and mass produce fuel cells.
ElringKlinger, a family group of 10,000 employees, has already been present in this field for twenty years, with 150 dedicated employees and nearly 200 patents.
It has a factory in Dettingen near Stuttgart where EKPO will be housed.
ElringKlinger's expertise in the field of fuel cells thus led it in mid-October to conclude an agreement with Airbus to create a joint venture intended to create a fuel cell for the future hydrogen aircraft.
