The Turkish lira recorded the highest decline against the dollar among monetary currencies around the world since the beginning of this year.
The Turkish newspaper Zaman reported that the dollar started this year at a level of 5.95 against the Turkish lira.
The pound continued its decline throughout the year, to the dollar yesterday at 8.54 against the pound, reflecting a 30 percent decline in the value of the pound this year.
The Brazilian Real came in second place, down 29 percent against the dollar since the beginning of this year, while the Argentine peso came third, down by 23.9 percent, and during that period the value of the Bulgarian lev rose by about 4.3 percent against the dollar.
