The Director of Seed Multiplication Branch in Daraa, Eng. Ghazi Al-Nassif, stated that the branch began in mid-October to sell wheat seeds to farmers, as the quantity sold to date reached 3,200 tons and a raw balance of 16 thousand tons of raw wheat seeds is available, which is sufficient for the needs of farmers in the agricultural season 2020-2021 .
He added that the branch shipped sifted and sterilized wheat seeds to other branches in the governorates, with a total amount of 960 tons in addition to about 1116 tons for agricultural banks, indicating that the branch's sales of barley seeds reached 57 tons to date, and 100 tons of barley seeds were shipped to other branches. The branch has a balance of 532 tons. .
Al-Nassif indicated that the prices of seeds are encouraging for farmers to import their supplies for the new season, as the price of one ton of sifted and sterilized wheat according to the government pricing is 450 thousand pounds and the price of one ton of barley is 200 thousand pounds, which are subsidized and reduced prices from the market, stressing the continuation of the sifting and sterilization operations in the sifting center for the end of the season In order to meet all the needs of farmers.
