In 2020, too, the vast majority of collective bargaining employees in Germany will receive a Christmas bonus.

As reported by the Federal Statistical Office, a total of 87.4 percent of employees with a collective agreement receive the additional pay.

A year earlier it was 86.9 percent.

On average, employees will receive

- 1.1 percent more than in the previous year.

Collective bargaining employees in the east receive a Christmas bonus somewhat more often.

Here the special payment is paid out to 90 percent of the collective bargaining employees after 86.4 percent in the previous year.

In the west, the proportion remained at 87 percent.

However, the employees in the old federal states receive an average of 2684 euros, a higher allowance than their colleagues in the east with 2503 euros.

According to the statistics, the highest collectively agreed wages are in oil and gas production with 5910 euros for each employee.

Temporary workers, on the other hand, are only entitled to 364 euros.

There are also industry collective agreements, for example the building cleaning trade, in which no Christmas bonus is provided.
