On October 28, when the reconfinement was announced, Emmanuel Macron offered a glimmer of hope to closed traders.
"If within a fortnight we have better control of the situation, we can (…) hope to open certain businesses."
Here we are.
It is an understatement to say that traders are impatiently awaiting announcements from Jean Castex.
At six weeks before Christmas, a crucial period for them, the reopening is for some a question of survival.

The Minister for Relations with Parliament, however, deprived them of all hope on Wednesday.
"Non-essential businesses will not be able to reopen at this stage,
" warned Marc Fesneau.
It is not the businesses as such that are in question.
They took a lot of precautions and sanitary measures that must be commended.
