The two manufacturers will bring together their respective shareholders on January 4 in a general meeting to approve the operation which donates

Initially the two manufacturers wanted to seal their union by the end of the first quarter of 2021 but the merger should be faster than expected.

PSA and FCA (Fiat) have just called their shareholders to a general meeting on January 4 to finalize this marriage.

This merger should create the world's third largest automotive group, called Stellantis.

Pending the green light from the competition authorities in France and Europe, probably before the end of the year, the two groups have already prepared the ceremony for a few weeks already.

In September, the terms of the deal due to the coronavirus crisis were reviewed, board members were appointed and even the logo was unveiled.

Technically the competition authorities have until February 2 to make a decision.

But with the crisis, Carlos Tavares, who will take over the management of this new group, wants to step on the accelerator in order to be ready and ensure the changes to come in the automotive market.

Names and logos of existing brands will remain "unchanged"

This new group will house iconic brands such as Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Jeep, Alfa Romeo and Maserati under one roof.

“Stellantis comes from the Latin verb stello which means to shine with stars.

It is inspired by this new and promising alignment of legendary automotive brands and strong corporate cultures which, by uniting, create one of the new leaders of the next era of mobility, ”explained the two groups.

The name Stellantis "will be used exclusively at group level, as a corporate brand" while the names and logos of existing brands within the two manufacturers "will remain unchanged", they indicated.
