Frankfurt-SANA
Today, European Central Bank President Christine Lager called for the immediate implementation of the European economic recovery plan, at a time when Hungary and Poland continue to oppose this approval within the European Union.
Agence France-Presse quoted Lagarde as saying in an intervention before the European Parliament that "we continue to face dangerous health or economic conditions, and this requires the implementation of the European recovery plan called" Next Generation EU "immediately.
Lagarde stressed the importance of this 750 billion euro plan to facilitate expansionary policies at the budget level, especially in the eurozone countries, considering that “weak demand and the possibility of delayed economic recovery justify maintaining support for national budget policies to avoid a rapid collapse of the economy.
Lagarde confirmed that the European Central Bank will deal with the current stage with the same approach and determination that it showed during the first wave of the spread of the Corona pandemic when it "moved quickly and forcefully", pointing out that a meeting will be held early next December to adopt new measures in support of the eurozone economy.
The eurozone economy is facing a recession and a severe crisis as a result of the measures taken to confront the Corona pandemic, which included shutdowns and stoppage of production in many sectors.
