This movement comes after GE announced last week of a new restructuring plan within another branch of the group, "

Steam Power

": nearly 300 positions in this entity specializing in turbines for nuclear power plants and coal are thus called to disappear in France, according to a union source interviewed Thursday by AFP.

"

The staff of Hydro in Belfort no longer support the pretenses, arrogance and contempt of employees practiced by General Electric

", indicates the intersyndicale in a press release, while the Hydro activity in Belfort is also targeted by a social plan.

The management of the American giant indeed opened in September an information-consultation procedure with the representative bodies of the staff of GE Hydro Solutions, concerning a project to simplify its activities in France.

This project "

could lead to the elimination of 89 positions in Belfort and Boulogne-Billancourt and the redeployment of 30 positions in Grenoble

", specified the management.

For their part, the employees of GE Hydro de Belfort "

wish to be able to continue their contribution to the use of clean renewable energy, which is the hydroelectric power produced in our dams

", according to their representatives.

The latter deplore that the group "

prefers to relocate the activity to countries where it can better exploit the employees and thus increase margins and profits

".

"

We understand the concern and uncertainty generated by the announcement of this project for our teams and we will do our utmost to limit the social impact of the planned reorganization

", assured the management who underlines "

the market context particularly difficult

”.

The Belfort unions hope that this day of strike will make it possible to "

give weight

" to the appeal of the President of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, Marie-Guite Dufay, who is due to go "

very soon

" to the Ministry of Finance and Of the industry.
