Everyone knows Miles & More, Lufthansa's bonus program.

When flying was still part of everyday life, it lured business people eagerly into the Group's jets - in the hope of being able to convert the errant miles into free flights, travel bags or fountain pens.

The "bonos" follow the same principle - but for a completely different purpose.

They should encourage employees to do good.

Having new ideas, taking less taxis, more taking the train, getting involved socially.

Veronika Lindner, 45, the head of the board of directors of the Bavarian construction company Lindner (1.1 billion euros in sales, 7300 employees), came up with the bonos together with employees.

She wants to encourage the company's employees to “go the extra mile”, as she says herself, that is to say, to grow beyond themselves.

Lindner is one of those proverbial hidden champions of the German economy.

In the Federal Chancellery and in the Berlin Reichstag the floors and walls come from the family business, in the Elbphilharmonie the foyers and stairwells.

Hardly anyone knows all this, and the specialist company makes little fuss about its prominent clients.
