Nearly 5,000 direct jobs have been created or are in the process of being established in Ile-de-France due to Brexit, estimated Thursday the Choose Paris Region one-stop shop, responsible for promoting the region, two thirds coming from finance.

One hundred and thirty-three projects, or 2,474 jobs, are still under negotiation and 52 others, for 2,045 jobs, have found another base in Europe or have abandoned the process, also identified the one-stop shop responsible for supporting entities wishing set up in the Paris region.

The dynamics show that Ile-de-France is above all a business center and not just a financial center.

It is the leading business center in continental Europe,

”said Franck Margain, President of Choose Paris Region, during a press conference.

The financial sector mainly represented

The financial sector is however predominantly represented: it concerns "

63% of confirmed projects, notably as a result of the loss of the post-Brexit European passport

", according to the press release jointly written with Europlace, the body promoting the Parisian financial center.

This is especially the case for banking (2,082 jobs) or asset management, with 360 jobs, taking into account companies already approved and which have strengthened their teams.

Among the companies, JP Morgan will bring in early January 2021, 100 additional jobs in Paris, announced Arnaud de Bresson, the general delegate of Paris Europlace, during the press conference.

They are in addition to the 100 already announced by the American bank.

For finance, “

the objective of 10,000 direct jobs is still possible.

Our conviction is that we should have an acceleration of relocations from London as soon as Brexit is effective,

”Arnaud de Bresson told AFP.
