The grand coalition has agreed on an extension of the deadline for filing the annual tax return for 2019.
As the financial policy spokesman for the Union and Social Democrats, Antje Tillmann (CDU) and Lothar Binding (SPD) announced on Thursday, the submission should be possible until August 31, 2021.
The background is that tax consultants are additionally involved in the corona crisis as part of the so-called bridging aid.
Because the application for help for companies affected by the pandemic must in most cases be made via tax advisors, auditors or other third parties.
Tax advisors in a bind
"In the corona crisis, tax advisors are making an indispensable contribution to ensuring that state aid reaches corona-damaged companies and the self-employed," explained Tillmann and Binding.
"In doing so, they should not be in the situation of having to decide between Corona aid applications on the one hand and submitting tax returns on time on the other."
That is why the coalition parliamentary groups propose "in the next tax law the extension of the submission deadlines for annual tax returns for the assessment period 2019 to be extended," as the two financial politicians declared.
The coalition factions agreed on this proposal with Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (SPD) on Thursday.
