A new plan to better remunerate farmers

2020-12-19T10:10:42.465Z

The ex-boss of Système U, Serge Papin, proposes to review the methods of negotiation in distribution.

Two years after the States General of Food (EGA), which aimed to better remunerate farmers, the state of mind that presided over their organization is no longer so strong.

The resulting Egalim law did not have all the desired effects.

As for the current annual negotiations, they promise to be more tense than the previous ones due to the decline in the purchasing power of customers.

It took the fervor of Serge Papin, the former boss of Système U and one of the co-architects of the Egalim law, to rekindle the flame.

A mission in this direction was entrusted to it in October by the Minister of Agriculture, Julien Denormandie.

Two months and more than 60 hearings later, the former distributor established his plan to revalue the raw materials paid to farmers.

It's urgent.

Their economic situation is more fragile than ever because the closure of restaurants deprives producers of a precious part of their outlets, up to 40 or 50%.
