After the German Diesel case has been completed, a model lawsuit by Italian consumer advocates against the VW Group has now been approved.
This was announced by the higher regional court (OLG) Braunschweig.
The collective procedure had already been negotiated there under the direction of the Federal Association of Consumer Organizations (vzbv).
The consumer advice center South Tyrol is also concerned with compensation for owners of diesel cars of the brands VW, Audi, Skoda or Seat, who have the »scandal engine« EA 189 with illegal defeat device.
The question of whether customers could also have corresponding claims if they bought the vehicle in the region in northern Italy was a matter of dispute.
Italians can now join the lawsuit
"The consumer advice center in South Tyrol based its determination targets on the model declaratory action pending in 2018 from the Federal Association of Consumer Advice Centers," explained the Braunschweig OLG.
There have been tests on this.
Damaged parties can now register for this model declaratory action, the Federal Office of Justice is placing the subject in its action register.
After a long dispute, VW and vzbv reached a settlement last February for the roughly 250,000 participants in the German test case.
Depending on the type and age of their car from the model years 2008 to 2016, diesel customers receive between 1350 and 6257 euros.
