According to the bill, a couple who married during the corona months and did not have their wedding, and made an effort to find an alternative date - will get all their money back within 30 days of the law coming into force on January 1, 2021. However, in order not to violate contract law, the proposal is binding Because first the couples must try and reach an arrangement with the owners of the halls within 5 months.
If the parties have agreed on an alternative date and it has also been canceled, the couples will be entitled to a refund of the down payment they made within one month from the date of the planned event or from the date the couple approached the hall owner.
In such a case, only the cost of the tasting meal up to the amount of NIS 2,000 will be deducted from the advance refund.
However, if the parties did not agree to hold an event at another time, or the couples decided not to negotiate an additional date for the event, the hall owners could charge them a cancellation fee not exceeding 5% of the down payment or NIS 3,000, whichever is lower, in addition to the tasting meal.
If the owners of the halls do not return the money as stipulated by law, the young couples will be able to file a lawsuit in court, which can determine compensation of up to NIS 10,000.
The law will apply to events whose date is set for March 12, 2020 onwards, and the contracts for which were signed before the Corona period.
